Val,
I am not sure how Australia works, but are there census records like
England and the United States has?

I was lucky in that I had the telescope and I knew that my
gggg-grandfather came over. Nothing else was known about the family
since they came over. I found by luck and lot of people helping me so
don't give up.

You said that you know when they died, so you can start looking on the
familysearch.org for those possible years and don't rule out anything.

My ancestors were listed on that as Gardiner but on the original
christening records, they were written very clearly as Gardner.

Brothers were christened in two different churches 100 miles away from
each other. I am assuming they went to visit after the twins were born
along with their oldest son. The oldest son and one of the twins died
and were buried in the church.

Don't give up and you can always ask me things to help.

Wendy

Dear Wendy,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I must say that you have a great deal
of
information on your family and you must have done a lot of research into

your family background. Unfortunately for me, I started looking for my
forebears too late in life and I have not been able to get very much
information at all. You are no doubt aware, that in the early days of
Australia, a lot of our population was made up of convicts, not convicts
in
the sense that we know today, but a minor theft then got you 7 years
penal
servitude. Our records of the free settlers were not very well kept and
I
have not been able to trace when my GGfather and GGmother came to this
country, but will keep on trying. It was very kind of you to give me the

information you have, but I do not know enough of my own family to
enable me
to know whether there is any connection.
Thank you once again for your kindness and I appreciate very much the
information you have given me.
I wish you and yours all the very
best
of good health and happiness in 2005 and, God willing, the years ahead.
