Now that I know there is at least one person out there interested in my Gardners, here is
a deed I found recently:

Leonard Gardner and Wife to Sons & Daughters DEED
This indenture made the seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand
Eight hundred and forty two between Leonard Gardner and Margaret his wife of the one part
of the County of Hocking and state of Ohio and Sarah Remy Ann Hanesworth Nelson Gardner
John Gardner Evaline Gardner Margaret Gardner Leonard Gardner Jun. of the same place and
Elisha Gardner and Rebecca Sands of Morgan County and State of Ohio of the other part all
sons and daughters of the said Leonard Gardner and Margaret his wife. Witnesseth-that
the said Leonard Gardner sen. and Margaret his wife for and in consideration of the
Natural love and affection which they bear unto their said sons and daughters and also
for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar from each child to them in hand paid by
their said sons and Daughters that at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given granted aliened enfeoffed and confirmed
and by these presents do give grant alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Sarah Remy
Ann Hanesworth Rebecca Sands and Nelson John Elisha Leonard Jun. Evaline and Margaret
Gardner and their assigns and administrators each to have an equal Share and Right in a
certain tract or parcel of Land Situate and being in the County of Hocking and State of
Ohio to Wit-. the West half of the south East quarter of section No. Eleven Township No.
Ten of Range No. Eighteen Containing Eighty two acres be the same more or less. Signed
sealed and delivered in the presence of us

State of Ohio Hocking County ss [S.S]
On the seventeenth day of January A. D. 1842 Before this subscriber ajustice of the Peace
within and for said County Personally appeared the said Leonard Gardner and Margaret
Gardner who signed and sealed the foregoing deed and acknowledged the signing and sealing
thereof to be their act and deed for the purposes therein Expressed and the said Margaret
Gardner wife of the said Leonard Gardner being by me examined separate and apart from her
said husband and the contents of said deed being fully made known to her by reading the
same in her presents she did declare upon such separate Examination that she is still
Satisfied therewith. And I do further certify that from my own Personal knowledge I am
satisfied that the said Leonard Gardner and margaret are the persons they Represent
themselves to be. Given under my hand and seal this 17th day of January A. D. 1842
