Researching Stephen Gardner. He was from SC b. ca 1805 . His wife was
Elizabeth, also b. SC ca 1805. His father is reputed to be William who was
inRev. War from Va.in militia and as matross. After the War he moved to SC
where he d. in Aikens Co ca 1790. I have this man's DAR record and also
things from SC . I t is my opinion that our Stephen might be a grandson due
to age difference as abovbe William was born bef. 1744 and our son was born
ca 1805. It is claimed he did have sons James, Stephen and Elijah. William's
wife was supposed to be a Miss Draper. The DAR papers also state that son
Stephen was inRev. War. If this is so then our Stepehn who was born ca 1805
had to have been a grandson.
I also have an article from a Baptist Courier paper in SC. that was written
Jan. 1894 by G.W. Gardner(grandson of William) who claims that James and
Stephen , William's son moved to Montgomery Co,A:LA about 1828. They are
found there in 1830 census. But how could this be. The article was about
William's son Elijah, who became a minister and remained in SC There is a
good bit in the article and I feel he must have had accurate info on most of
what he says but wonder if any one on this list has knowledge of this family.
Please reply to me privately if possible unless you think it might help the
list.
