Diana,

I believe that Lewis Garrison died in Monmouth Co, NJ in 1827. I haven't
been back to do deed work and figure out where his home was. In 1843, when
his wife Mary (Wilkinson) Garrison died she was specifically living in the
home of their daughter Mary in Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth Co,
NJ. This farm was located on Red Valley Road not far south of the famed
Old Yellow Meeting House in that area which is on the same road. Their
daughter Mary had married Cornelius Messler/Messlor. I use the slash
because Cornelius and Mary seemed to use the spelling of Messlor, whereas,
Cornelius's brother Vincent Messler used the other spelling. Cornelius had
died in 1837 so Mary, his wife was a widow and her mother was living with
her. I did find a deed that transferred land from Mary (Wilkinson)
Garrison to one of her grandsons, son of Mary (Garrison) Messlor. This
deed mentions that it was the land of his grandfather Lewis Garrison.

My grandmother had given me much of this information some years ago. I did
some research on the easy stuff but always had hoped to made a trip to
Deerfield, Cumberland Co, NJ where Jonathan and Mary (Leake) Garrison were
supposed to have died. In looking at my FTM program, I have Benjamin
Garrison, d 1782, listed as the father of Jonathan. The only problem is
that I don't have any source listed for this information. I know that I
was never satisfied with most scenarios and hadn't found solid proof for
following this line back.

If time permits, I will dig around and see if those names are linked in my
files.
