APRIL 22-23, 2005
The Georgia Strawberry Festival is moving! It will be in the same location,
downtown in the picturesque little town of Reynolds, but will be held
earlier this year to ensure that there are plenty of strawberries for the
festival. Mark your calendar for April 22 and 23, and plan to join us for
a BERRY good time.

The festivities start on Friday night with a dinner and strawberry
shortcake in the park between the churches. Kid's meals will be available,
too. Hunt Elementary School Choir and gospel recording group Homeward Bound
will perform.

Saturday events start with the Children's Teddy Bear Parade and Picnic at
9:30 A.M. Little ones and their favorite teddy bears are invited to
promenade the short parade route and then be treated to a picnic and
entertainment. There is no charge to participate and for every child in the
parade, The Citizens State Bank of Taylor County will donate $1.00 to
Children's Health Care at Egleston Hospital. The Main Street Stage will
then crank up and run until 4:00 P.M. with a variety of entertainment.

Visitors may peruse the arts and crafts show and enjoy a variety of
luscious food, including all manner of strawberry goodies. There will be
games and amusements for the kids. A '94 Cadillac will be raffled off late
in the day. The Old Book Sale will benefit the local library. An Antiques
and Collectables Show will take place in the Steelhorse BBQ
Restaurant. A classic car show at Silver Dollar Raceway is a must-see
event.

At 4:00P.M. the grand parade kicks off. Bruce Goddard, author of "View From
A Hearse" will be the grand marshal. The Ft. Valley State University Jazz
Band will lead a New Orleans style funeral procession as part of the
parade. Grab your parasol and follow along. Decorated golf carts will be
featured in the parade as well.

After the parade, the Lawn Mower Races and the Strawberry Cook-off start
at 5:00 P.M. Lawn mowers will race around a dirt track for trophies and
bragging rights. The lawn mowers aren't your average grass cutters; they
are revved up mow-chines, and will provide plenty of excitement. The
Strawberry Cook-off will take place in the Flint Energies Auditorium. The
competition will be intense for the entries from all over the state. Don't
rush off afterward, the audience gets to taste the entries. The Main Street
Stage will crank back up for the Strawberry Jam Rock and Roll Concert.

So, there you have it. Plenty of good reasons to head to Reynolds at the
intersection of Ga. Hwy. 96 and Ga. Hwy. 128 for a whole day of family
oriented fun. There is no fee for admission or parking and most events are
free to spectators. Call the info message at 478-847-7879 or click on the
