The Schley County News Friday, May 22, 1908
Uncle Hamp Mayo, one of Ellaville's oldest and most
faithful antebellum darkies died last Monday after an
illness of several months. His many white friends who
had looked after him during his illness provided a
decent burial thus showing their appreciation of the
faithful servant that had gone.
