I just wanted to say to all on this list that I'm sure you have noticed a slackening of the posts on the mail list, particularly in the area of the Ellaville Sun posts. I have been a little distracted of late with some other commitments to my church and some health issues with my mother and wife. I'm happy to say that as of this writing the health issues look much brighter and to reassure all that I haven't lost interest. I'm hopeful that I will get an issue of The Sun out tomorrow. We will stepping into 1941 soon.
I have been continuing to work on the many documents found at the courthouse back in the spring. This is very time consuming and I'm working on a great one right now with the help of Linda Snow Davis. This document begs for someone to research it to find out what it's all about. We are doing just that. It involves a law suit with two individuals that helped shape Schley county's early history, Robert Burton, father of Ellaville's namesake and William Allen Black, who was one of two Schley county delegates to the Georgia Convention on Succession (from the Union) in January, 1861, and the father of Col. Wm. T. Black, 5th Ga. Inf., who is memorialized in the Ellaville cemetery. We are working on the genealogy and connections between these families and if anyone on this list has knowledge that might help with that effort, we would be very appreciative.
Thanks,
Harris
