On the internet, I came across "The Kenneth Richardson Wells Family
Home Page." I was delighted to find your information on the WELLS and SCOTT
families. Thank you for sharing your information.

Following are some annotations of your information, with some
questions, all enclosed {thusly}. Although you may by now have come across
much of what I have added here, I hope that some of these annotations are of
use to you. Should you have an opportunity, please address those
questions{*****}, primarily about sources of data.

Much of the annotation data is from my research for ANDERSON and
SCOTT, and much is due to the generosity of Mrs. Mary MOSLEY of Savannah GA,
who is not on-line. The History of Screven County, Georgia (THoSCG, edited
by Dixon HOLLINGSWORTH, 1989, 318 pp) and Sandra SCOTT POPE's Scott Family
History (37pp revised Jun 1988, which focuses on the descendants of Richard
Perry SCOTT) also provide some of these annotations.

My connections to this family are indirect: I am descended from
James SCOTT Sr, the probable brother of John SCOTT's father, William SCOTT
Sr; my wife is descended from Mary Catherine ANDERSON SCOTT's brother,
Hezekiah K. ANDERSON (d CW). Richard Perry SCOTT, a grandson of James SCOTT
Sr, fought in the CW as did two of his sons; he lost three brothers in the
CW, including my ancestor Hope B(rigdon?) SCOTT.

Most of William SCOTT Sr's children were in Wayne Co GA and Jackson
Co FL -- William Thomas SCOTT (unm) evidently remained in Screven Co GA and
John (B?) SCOTT & Sarah Ellen WELLS returnned there after by 1850 being in
Wayne Co GA in 1840, and I believe that many of that couple's descendants
lived in the vicinity of Newington. The foregoing (?)'s merely mean that I
have no record of/primary evidence for that information.

first three children. He d by 1856 (intestate), when his widow was
administrator of his estate in Screven Co GA. John SCOTT, Arthur ROBBINS
and George L. JACKSON were bound on 6 Dec 1852 in John SCOTT's
administration of the estate of his unm brother, William Thomas SCOTT d
intestate. John SCOTT, Azariah ENNEIS and Lewis M. DASHER were bound on 27
Oct 1857 in John SCOTT's administration of the estate of William Thomas
SCOTT. *****From where do we get the middle name of Ellen and the middle
initial of B.?*****}

period, the letters L and S were often confused, but S. is clearly the
initial on a guardian's bond: William Jason SCOTT, Benjamin Franklin SCOTT
and George C. DIXON were bound on 17 Dec 1866 in William Jason SCOTT's
guardianship of John S. SCOTT minor and orphan child of John SCOTT.}
