Sgt. Maj. Scott, sir, yours of the 21st instant recieved and understand your
deep concern and stress. As a career military man you have seen and
experienced much and especially if you spent time in the Viet Nam war. If
you remember eventually all news broadcasts began to speak daily of our
casualties and the hyper-inflated rate of enemy deaths. while i have always
highly supported our military ( with caveats of course )the currrent
administration, which i don't support, in its growing paranoia has
decided, probably under rumsfeld, that continuous and accurate casualty
figures aren't posted that often, especially the wounded. news photos of our
dead warriors coming home won't be seen that often. The non-death casualty
rate is unbelievable so far. I have to seek out certain conservative and
liberal sources to learn what the count is up to. The McGlouthlan
(sic) Group seen in jacksonville on PBS on sunday mornings quite often lists
the exact death and wounded rate. This latter count is nearing 30,000.
Sherman was right, War IS hell and you hope your government will always be
on the level with the American people as to casualty figures and purposes of
a war and if those goals are being met. I'm afraid that i see in the Busites
about the same as we saw under Lyndon johnson in tghe late 60's and then
under Nixon. god bless our troops and your warrior son and God bless America
BUT hold our government accountablke at all times. The Asians we fought were
fanatical but had some scruples and some compassion. The Islamic fanatics we
are fighting are driven by a religious fervor where death is honorable and
sought after if you take out the infidels. From some dozen years or more of
studying the religions of the world I truly believe that these have
circumvented and make a mockery of the true original teachings of Muhammed.
I am not a Muslem by the way nor could I be, i have my own personal
religion. I believe that over the next few years mnore and more BS will come
out about how and why we got into this Iraqui mess. i can understand
Afghanistan and the Taliban and striking at Al Quida for the war on America.
Impeachment by 2007 wouldn't surprise me. RS----- Original Message -----

the Air Force Reserve at Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews AFB, Md
(Washington, DC) since 11 Jun 2005, and have personally seen and offloaded
almost a hundred casualties coming by air from Iraq via Landstuhl, Germany
to here. And that's only been for the past ten days. Most of these
casualties are from Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), though some are
gunshot wounds. Also the average age of these guys are about 20. The very
first litter patient that I helped to take off of the airplane was 21,
comatose, and on a ventilator, and he was taken immediately to Bethesda
Naval Hospital (he was a Marine), and many of the others were taken to
Walter Reed Army Medical Center. We kept the ambulatory patients overnight
at MGMC, then loaded them back up to go on to the closest Air Force Base to
their hometown. What really bothers me most about this is that we're not
seeing all of this on the news. A!
> s a Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force Reserve, I am
of course supportive of our Commander-in-Chief and the military, but I feel
that this is a travesty. And as the father of a 24 year old Army Blackhawk
pilot about to go to Iraq/Afghanistan, I am becoming a tad bit tentative. I
would like to ask everyone to please pray for all of these young (and old)
soldiers and Marines. Thanks.
