Carole,

I'm sorry that it took so long to get back to you, but with school starting for teachers the day before yesterday, I have had no time at all! I will research these Crutchfields (it seems like I remember some way back) and will get back to you ASAP.
By the way, I was recently selected for the Doctoral Program in Curriculum Studies at good ole Georgia Southern! I start classes on 16 August. I wonder what kind of smart-assed comment Jim Wynn would have about that? Oh, also, I ran into Gail McGlamery (she is now marred to Robbie Williams) at GSU (she works as the Secretary for Financial Affairs), and she is also a Screven Countian! She is descended from the Thompsons from Green Hill, and is also descended from my mother's family, the Murrays. She says hi by the way. Keep in touch. Happy hunting!

Scottie

Scotti, in going through some very old notes that I made back in 1999 and didn't really reference sources for...<ahummm>, I found the following information:

On August 13, 1783, Michael HENDERSON of Surry County, NC, was bondsman to the marriage of Palmer CRUTCHFIELD and REBECCA MALLET.
And then on 24 January 1784, Michael Henderson sold land in Surry County, NC to Frederick MILLER, 600 acres called Fox Knob, adjoining a Moses Woodruff and others.

Does a Crutchfield surname tie in anywhere with your Mallet family?
