Lena,
When you get to Macon, take US 80 to Swainsboro, then take US 1 to
Midville. Take a right onto US 17 and go to Millen, then stay on 17
until you get to Cooperville. At Cooperville, you can either continue
on 17 to Oliver and Guyton, or you can turn right and go to Sylvania,
and get on Hwy 21 S to Newington and Springfield. In any event, when
you get to Springfield, you have to get on 21 to get to the turnoff for
Ebenezer. Much of US 17 is known as the Old River Road and the Old
Savannah Road, etc. and it is also the route that General Tecumseh
Sherman took from Macon to Savannah in 1864. A most pretty drive. Hope
that this helps. Happy hunting!

Dale,
Thank you, & it helps a lot! I am familiar with the Macon exits
from going
to Amelia every summer & visiting a friend when they lived in Hilton
Head (need
coffee & eyes wide open, otherwise you can wind-up going to the wrong
city/cities...lol).
This may sound like an odd question, but is there a way to get
there
taking 'back roads', such as Hwy. 41? I ask because I am a lot like my
Grandfather Ray & Dad, I like going the long way so you get to see the
cities &
towns you do not see from the major highways.
Sincerely,
Lena

Hi Lena,
From Atlanta take I-75 southward to Macon.
Stay on I-75 and enter Macon. In Macon at the Ocmulgee River exchange
switch over to I-16.
Take I-16 southeastward to U.S. 301 near Statesboro. It's Exit 116, I
believe.
Take U.S. 301 northward to the Statesboro and the 301 Bypass. Turn
right onto the Bypass.
If you're planning on going to Effingham County, then turn right onto
U.S. 80 and drive through Brooklet. When you get to Stillwell, turn
left onto GA 119C. That will take you to its intersection with GA 119.
Turn left onto it and you'll cross the Ogeechee River into Effingham
County after only about two or three miles.
If you're planning on going to Screven County, then follow the Bypass
around Statesboro until you reach U.S. 301 North. Just follow that and
once you cross the Ogeechee River you'll be in Screven County.
You'll need county maps to find the cemeteries. Go to the following
URLs and download the maps for the two counties (and any others you
might need). The maps are PDF format, so you need the Adobe Acrobat
Reader installed on your computer to view the maps. You can print them
out at various resolutions for your trip.

I hope that this helps.
