Nora, I'm not usually still up at this hour! I checked Ga and SC place
names. The only two possiblilities that I found are places, not counties or
districts. The first is Graves which is in Terrell Co in SW Ga, described as
four miles west of Dawson, established as a stop in the Central of Ga
Railroad. This was probably not until long after 1758. The second might be
more likely - Gravesend was established in Liberty Co in 1756, but later its
name was changed to Riceboro.

There is also a Graves Co in Kentucky.

Subject: [GASCREVE] Graves Co. 1758

Any of you history buffs out there know of a Graves Co. being in GA or SC
during this time period?

I found Anna Brunson's christening in the Book of Records (Ebenezer...Ga
Salzburgers) and she is listed as born in Graves Co. and her parents were
John and Mary Brunson of Fairfax.
I know that Fairfax is a district of St. George Parish. I don't think
there were Co. during that time. However, it is printed in the Book of
Records...Graves Co. I think they may mean district...but where is Graves
Co. or district? Never heard of it and would like to know about where it
is and if this is the actual name.

The Book of Records that I am referring to is in the GA Historical Society
Library in Savannah. It is a current printing so there may be a mistake in
the printing or a mistake on the records. Help! Expand my history
horizons.
Nora
