Looking for information linking Spalding Co. WILLIAMS to the Shepard WILLIAMS family in Bulloch Co., Ga.
1850 Bulloch census shows names in household - Shepard WILLIAMS(age 75) James B.(age 30), Harriett (age 23), Louiza (age 26), Mary (age 6) & Ella (age 2). In the next house, sole occupant John C. WILLIAMS (age 21). In the next house, Susannah WILLIAMS (age 35) with Amanda (age 13), Mary Ann (age 12), Samuel (age 10) & Mary (age 81).
Part of the Shepard WILLIAMS family moved into Cass (Bartow) county. John Clem WILLIAMS resided in Cass Co., Ga in 1859 (his brother Dr. Martin Gardner WILLIAMS lived in Cass/Bartow until his death 1883).
John Clem WILLIAMS (married Virginia C. ASKEW from Pike Co., GA), had a brother Thomas WILLIAMS who lived in Spalding County during the Civil War years and Virginia Askew WILLIAMS appears on the 1870 census in Spalding Co., along with her children.
Civil War Military Service:
John Clem WILLIAMS enlisted in Spalding Co., GA.
1 B Ga. Battalion; Capt. D. N. Martin; Gordon's Co. B; 63rd Regiment Infantry
He was captured sometime in 1864 and held in prison (location unknown) until the end of the war when he was released and sent home. He returned home quite ill and died just a few months later.
I would be extremely grateful for any information regarding any of these individuals as I have so very little to go on.
