QUESTIONS FOR APPLICANT

State of Georgia
Schley County

William B. Tiner of said State and County, desiring to avail himself of the
Pension Act, hereby submits his proofs, and after being duly sworn true
answers
to make to the following questions, deposes and answers as follows:

1. What is your name and where do you reside? William B. Tiner. Schley
County, Ga.
2. How long and since when have you been a resident of this state? All my
life. 55 years.
3. When and where were you born? In Sumter Co., Ga. July 26, 1844.
4. When and where and in what company and regiment did you enlist or
serve?
In Higgnbottoms Co., Battallion of Col. (unreadable), Co. D ????. In
Atlanta,
Ga., Feb or Mar. 1864. (This is Col. Lees (?), but Higginbottom's Co. L)
5. How long did you remain in such company and regiment? About 1 year. I
first served in Cutts Battallion, afterwards I served Col. ?? Lee's Bat.,
Higginbottom's Co.
6. For how long a period did you discharge regular military duty?
Together
about two years.
7. When, where and under what circumstances were you discharged from
service? Were you with your command at th time? After I was wounded at
Bentonville battle, I ????? ???? and did not get back into service again.
8. What is your present occupation? Farming.
9. How much can youearn per annum by your own exertions or labor? None.
10. What has been your occupation since 1865? Farming.
11. Upon which of the following grounds do you base your application for
pension, viz: first, "age and poverty," second, "infirmity and poverty,"
or
third, "blindness and poverty"? Infirmity and Poverty.
12. If upon the first ground, state how longyou have been in such condition
that you could not earn your support? If upon the second, give a full and
complete history of the infirmiy and its extent? If upon the third, state
whether you are totally blind and when and where you lost your sight? I was
wounded in the foot at battle of Bentonville, N.C., which broke all the
bones
between the ????? and toes, which has never entirely been cured as it at
times
rises and confines me to my bed and is always painful. I also suffer
from ????? of the head & kidney disease, all of which keeps me in the worst
of
health.
13. What property, effects or income do you possess, and its gross value?
None.
14. What property, effects or income did you possess in 1894, 1895, 1896,
1897,
1898, and 1899, and what disposition, if any, did you make of same? None.
15. In what County did you reside during those years, and what property did
you
return for taxation? Schley.
16. How where you supported during the years 1898 and 1899? By my family.
17. How much did your support cost for each of those years, and what portion
did you contribute thereto by your own labor or income? None.
18. What was your employment during 1898 and 1899? What pay did you receive
in
each year? None.
19. Have you a family? If so, who composes such family? Giv their means of
support? Have they a homestead? All of my children are grown up and their
is
no one but me and wife, and I will be compelled to have some help from the
county or state. Wife name Rebecca Tiner, she has to depend upon me for her
living.
20. Are you eceiving any pension? If so, what amount, and for what
disability? No.

QUESTIONS FOR WITNESS

H.T. Jordan of said state and county, having been presented as a witness in
support of the application of W.B. Tiner for pension under Section
1254,Code,
and after being duly sworn true answers to make to the following questions,
deposes and answers as follows:

1. What is your name and where do you rside? Henry T. Jordan. Schley
County, Georgia
2. Are you acquainted with W.B. Tiner, the applicant; if so, how long have
you known him? Yes, about 40 years.
3. Where does he reside and how long and since when has he ben a resident
of
this state? In Schley County. All his life.
4. When, where and in what company and regiment did he enlist, and how do
you
know? In Higginbottom's Co., Co. G.W. Lee's Battalion, from Mar. 1864.
5. Were you a member of the same companyand regiment? Yes.
6. How long did he perform regular military duty, and what do you know of
his
service as a Confederate soldier, and the time and circumstances of his
discharge from the service? Were you present with command when discharged?
About 12 months or more. Made good soldier. I was not with him when he was
discharged.
7. What property, effects or income has the applicant? None. I know the
family.
8. What property, effects or income did the applicant possess in 1896,
1897,
1898 and 1899, and what disposition, if any, did he make of same? None.
9. Has he conveyed away any of his property in the last four years, if so,
what was it, and to whom? No.
10. What is the applicant's occupation and physicalcondition? Farming. He
has
bad wounded foot, also a suferer from catarrah. He is unable to earn his
living by manual labor.
11. Is the applicant unable to support himself by labor of any sort, if so,
why? He is unable to do so as he is feble and suffers a great deal from the
wounded foot which sometimes ????? him to his bed, also badly affected
from ???? kidney, been suffering from catarrah for many years.
12. How was he supported during the years 1898 and 1899? By the labor of
his
family.
13. What portion of his support for these two years was derived from his own
labor or income? Very little.
14. Give a full and complete ststement of the applicant's physical condition
that entitles him to a pension under Section 1254, Code? He received the
wound
at Bentonville, N.C. Has had catarrah every since the war. The bulletbroke
the bones of the foot between the toes & instep and all the bones ????? of
that
part of foot. I was there when he was wounded.
15. What interest have you in the recovery of a pension by this applicant?
None.

(Note: Henry T. Jordan signed this affidavit and P.E.Taylor attested on the
11th August 1900. However, all of that is struck through and beneath it, it
is
signed by Joe Chambliss and attested by Thos. M.(or W) Allen on the 13th day
of
Sept. 1901)



AFFIDAVIT OF PHYSICIANS

State of Georgia
Schley County

Personally came before me B.L. Bridges and R.T. Bivins, both known to me as
reputable physicians of said county, who, being severally sworn, say on oath
that they have examined carefully W.B. Tiner, applicant for pension under
Section 1254, Code, and after such personal examination say that his precise
physical condition is as follows:

This man was shot through the foot destroying several of the metatarsal
bone.
Also destroying the ???? position of tibula and fibula causing ???? have to
work ??? continuously and he is now not physically able to do manual labor.

They further say on oath that the physical condition of the applicant
renders
him unable to labor at any work or calling sufficient to earn a support for
himself, and that we have no interest in said pension being allowed.

name below when H.T. Jordan signed his sworn to & subscribed before me this

13th day of Sept. 1901

Chambliss, who is subscribed as a witness to application of W.B. Tiner, is

said
questions took the oath required by law and the full text of the affidavits
were read to the witness before same was signed .
