>Funeral services for Mr. Walter J. Caldwell were conducted Friday
afternoon at the Howard Methodist church. His death occurred suddenly the
previous day.

>Mr. Caldwell who was approaching his 75th birthday was the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Caldwell and the late Mrs. Mattie Caldwell and was born
in Prattsburg community of this county Nov. 2, 1883. He had been an
esteemed resident of this city for several years and had resided in the
county almost his entire life.

>Surviving Mr. Caldwell are his wife and three daughters: Mrs. A. D.
Rogers, Mrs. Sam George and Mrs. Tom Hayes and a son, Mr. Windham Caldwell;
three grand children, one great grand child and a number of nieces and
nephews survive.

adopted and reared by the late Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Maulk, former prominent
citizens of this county.

>Due to declining health Mr. Caldwell retired from business a number of
years ago and for several months was in very poor health.

>Mr. Caldwell was a faithful member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist church and
funeral was in charge of his pastor, Elder Bentley Adams assisted by Elder
John Mangham. Following the impressive funeral, interment was in the
cemetery nearby. Acting pall bearers: Meesrs John, Jack, Billy and Leo
Caldwell, Maurice Meeks and J. F. Livedy, Jr., all nephews of Mr. Caldwell.
Honorary pall bearers: Messrs P. B. Childs, Thelmon Jarrell, Fred Jarrell,
Clifford Adams, H. E. Childres, Ernest Parker, Hubert Payne and Albert Kent.
