Final Rites for Dr. R.L. Carter

Funeral services for Dr. R.L. Carter, 87, were held Thursday,February 17 at 11
o'clock at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Smith and Dr.
Robert M. Hoffmann officiating. Burial was in Fincher Cemetery in Meansville
with Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Carter died Tuesday, Feb 15 at the Upson County Hospital. He was a charter
member of the Thomaston Kiwanis Club, a charter member of the Pete Thurston
American Legion Post 81 and a member of the First United Methodist Church. The
Pike County native resided in Thomaston since 1920 when he came here to
practice medicine. Dr. Carter retired in December 1967. He was a veteran of
World War I and served with the Medical Corp stationed in France. Dr. Carter
resided at 700 Andrews Drive.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Christine Lowe Carter; one daughter, Mrs.
Raymond C. Carter, Dallas, TX; one son, Robert C. Carter, Atlanta; three
sisters, Mrs. Mary C. Wiley, Carrollton; Mrs. Ruth C. Brannock, Clemson,SC;
Mrs. Hattie C. Waller, Thomaston; three grandchildren and one great grandchild
also survive.
