Neglected to mention in my last post that Daniel Franklin Colson was the son
of Jacob Franklin Colson (b. about 1840 - d. 1908) and Mary F. Crutchfield
Toler (b. Sept. 5, 1820 in VA - d. July 19, 1899). Mary Crutchfield Toler
was, as far as we know, not related to any of the Wilkinson County, GA
Crutchfields or Tolers. So the story goes, she was a widow with grown
children when the somewhat younger Jacob Colson met her in Chesterfield
County,VA during the Civil War. They were married on October 13, 1862, and
returned to Wilkinson County to live. They had two children, Jacob Franklin
Colson and Cynthia Francis Parmelia Colson. Both Jacob and Mary Colson are
buried at Salem. Jacob Franklin Colson was the son of Daniel Colson and
Cynthia Potts.
