Ellouise Wynn in a recent post mentions the Crumbleys and their
linkage to the Wynns through Jessie Crumbley. Thought I would
share some of what I've found and speculated about these Crumbleys.
I've been trying to discover where a Seney Crumbley Mitchell fits
into these Wilkinson Co. Crumbleys, and perhaps some of this
background may help a few of the Wynn researchers. There were
at least two Crumbley-Wynn marriages, and Crumbleys married
into other families (Usserys, Howells, Paynes, etc.) in that
county prior to 1860. I've been trying to go a bit further back
to the original John Crumbley (b. ~ 1774) in Wilkinson Co. and
possible linkages to Anthony Crumbley and a Valentine Crumbley who
died in Warren Co., GA in 1795. I know a few others are also working
on this Crumbley family and may be able to contribute more.

My speculation is that an initial John Crumbley (b. ~1774) and living
in Wilkinson Co. had the following children:
John b. ~1800 m. Judy Cone
[His and Judy's children were:
Cynthia b.~ 1826,
Rebecca b.~1829 m. Daniel B. Ussery in 1852 (first child was named
Syony or Syoney, a male, born in ~1852
William b. 1830,
John b. 1832,
James b. 1836,
Jesse b. 1838,
Isabelle b. 1845, and
Frances b. ???
John and Judy m. 1/25/1825 in Wilkes Co., GA. John dies by 1855
and leaves some orphans under the guardianship of John E. Duncan.]

Elizabeth or Betsy b. ~1810-13 - m. James J. Howell in Wilkes Co.
1/8/1824. Children - Anny, John, James, William, Frances,
Josephine & Samanthy. Howells are in 1850 Wilkinson Co. census
and lived near her apparent brother John Crumbly.

Nancy b. ~1815 or 1822 (according to different records)- m. Obediah
Wynn 8/5/1847 - one son John M. Wynn on 1850 Wilkinson census

Cynthia b. ~1817 and m. John B. Ussery who was six years younger

Jesse b. ~ 1820 m. Mary Wynn Bailey in 1853 in Wilkinson Co. This Mary
had 7 children ages 9-20 named Bailey in the hh on the 1860 census
and 4 younger children named Crumbley )

Valentine b. ~ 1826 m. Lucy Ann Ussery (and died in 1863 in Civil War)

Burrell b. ~1833? (lived in the John Howell, perhaps father of James J.
Howell, household in 1850 census. John was 80 then and James &
Eliz. Crumbley Howell lived next door)

The standard disclaimers are offered in terms of this work in progress.
There seems less documentation on this family than many others in the
county, probably due to the strong possibility of Creek Indian linkages
to that original John Crumbley (perhaps his wife). Hope this helps a
few of you who find the name of Crumbley in your Wilkinson Co. family
tree. Much remains to be done in correctly sorting out these Crumbleys,
andthey are only one Wilkinson Co. family that I've been pursuing.
