Yes, Nicey was her nickname. I assume because Elizabeth was her mother's
name too. This happened alot. Also if there were younger siblings, they
couldn't say Elizabeth Nicey was as close they could get.

In my husband's family there seems to be a think about this - the boys were
named after patriots of the revolutionary era and I my husband is a JUNIOR.
That's what the family always called him. Lots of those in the family too.

Elizabeth's last name was Edwards according to Davidson's History of
Wilkinson County. On page 298 he lists the following under Records of Wills
and Estates. Davidson says there are four volumes of Records in the Ordinary
s Office which have escaped conflagrations, from which the follwoing
abstracts of Wills and of Estates have been taken. The first volume contains
the records coving 1820-1828; and in the back of it there has been copied
the records of 1848 to 1853; the second volume covers the years 1828 to 1838
and volume three, that from 1838-1848, and the fourth volume from 1853-1858.

Joel Brewer, h(heirs) John L. Johnson, Thadeus Ward, Jesse B. Cornell,
Holden Brown, Hyman Mercer, Nicy Brewer, Green Brewer.

You will notice that these are all in-laws except for Nicy and Green (the
later being their son).

As for further information about Elizabeth (nicy) Edwards I have yet to come
across anything. Of course, records are scarce for this time period so I
don't find it unusual. I don't live in Georgia anymore so I have to do all
my research online and via the mail.

I descend from Elizabeth Brewer's sister Sarah who md. John Lewis Johnson.
I have found the information that they were children of Joel Brewer and I
also have found an abstract of Joel's Will. I have suspected that Nicey
was his
wife, but have no further information on her. I assumed Nicey is a
nickname
for Narcissa? Are you saying that his wife was Elizabeth aka Nicey
Edwards?
Do you have further information on her ancestry?
