There was an organization called Confederate Wayside Home located in
Highpoint, NC during the Civil War. I don't know if this is the organization
you are looking for.

Has anyone heard of the Wayside Home, supposedly it was some type of
organization in Wilkinson Cty to make donations to the War. My
GGGGrandfather James Rusell Thompson makes mention of it, but no details
were given.
