Hi, Ric-

I'm interested in the sources for the origin of Johann GEIGER found in the
Trinity Church records in Lancaster, PA. I have the records and I note that the
sponsor at Johann's baptism is a Jacob GEIGER. Do you know the identity of
Jacob GEIGER? Would he be a brother perhaps to Heinrich GEIGER father of
Johann? Or possibly Heinrich's father?

I have found evidence to support Susanna's name being DEHUFF in the records
of Lancaster Moravian Church where her death was listed:

25 Nov. 1780 Anna Barbara DeHoff(in), widow; b. 3 Feb. 1736, dau. of
Heinrich ZIMMERMAN, bapt. as an adult 7 Sept. 1755. She married John DeHoff Jr.; 5
children (of whom one daughter Susanna GEIGER, survives). Anna Barbara's age:
45 yrs. 9 mos. (Brief obit.)

Also found the following death in Lancaster Moravian records:

24 July 1790 Catharina Dehuff (nee BRECHT), widow; b. 22 Mar. 1704 at
Schriesheim in the Palatinate, dau. of Johannes BRECHT and Cathrina (nee HOFFMAN).
Came to this country in 1725. She married 1 Oct. 1727 John Dehuff, saddler at
Lancaster (who died 25 Dec. 1751); had 11 children: 10 Catharina, b. 10 Mar.
1729, d. 10 May 1741; 2) Heinrich, b. 17 May 1731, d. 1 Jan. 1736; 3)
Johannes, b. 29 Jun 1733, d. 10 July 1774; 4) Abraham, b. 13 Feb. 1735, still
living [in 1790]; 5) Susanna, b. 19 Feb. 1737, d. 30 Jan. 1761; 6) Heinrich, b. 3
Sept. 1738, still living; 7) Matthias, b. 16 Aug. 1740, still living; 8) again
Catharina, b. 24 Oct. 1742, d. 1 May 1747; 9) Michael, b. 28 Aug. 1744, d.
13 Sept. 1744; 10) Maria, b. 29 Aug. 1745, d. 4 Sept 1747; 11) Joseph, b. 27
Mar 1750, d. 2 Apr. 1750. Catharina's age 80 yrs. 4 mos., 2 days.

>From the above info it would appear that Susanna DEHUFF was born in
Lancaster County and not in Germany as you indicate. I'm curious as to your evidence
that Johann GEIGER immigrated and wasn't born here? What is your evidence
to show that--I haven't anything one way or the other.

My other question would be what evidence do you have to link the Johann
GEIGER you find in Baltimore marriage records to Lancaster County--I mean how do
you know they are the same Johann/John? I ask because there were also other
GEIGERs in Baltimore. Also--what evidence do you have to link the Baltimore
John GEIGER to Florida?

Johann (Juan/John) Geiger was recorded at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in
Lancaster County Pennsylvania as being born November 15, 1778, to Heinrich
(Henry) GEIGER and Susanna DEHUFF, both immigrants from Germany. Also documented
were an older sister, Elizabeth GEIGER (b. August 8, 1776) and younger
brothers Jacob GEIGER (b. October 17, 1780), and Christian GEIGER (b. August 18,
