Hello,

I am seeking information on the name Schoenster.

The roots of this name have been traced to two men in the Krefeld,
Germany region. On the original German birth certificates the names
were spelled: Schonster (with the umlaut) and Schoenster. When my
great-grandfather arrived at Ellis Island, USA the name was changed to
Schoenster (but why did his brother have it spelled Schoenster on his
birth certificate - we don't know).

A person searched the German phone book for Schonster but nothing was
found. I (my father really) know all the Schoenster's in the U.S. We
know of no other Schoenster's anywhere in the world.

We suspect that perhaps our roots are in the Netherlands.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
