I see I misunderstood the reply of F van Andel. In my opinion, he
could/should have said "Your question can be asked in English and if someone
know the answer, it will be given." However, I think the question is vague
in two points, born about 1735 is not precise and, born in Holland, is even
more so. I do realise, Sherry has not much to go on, expecially as she is
not even sure how the name was spelled before this Daniel Haston was in
America. If he was Dutch, my guess would be Haasten, but, if Haston is
correct, could he be of French Huguenot origin? Do you know what his
religion was? If he was Protestant you may have a chance that his parents or
grandparents came from France. In that case, there are several Huguenot
Societies, one in Paris and, I believe, one in England and in The
Netherlands as well. On the Internet (I don't know where) there is also a
list where people with Huguenot families can place that they are looking. I
had once success with the name Crommelin, and the person who found my entry
lives in Ireland and, yes, we could help each other.
