Aan alle positieve mede-denkers ;-) in deze nieuwsgroep,
Via de nieuwsgroep news:soc.genealogy.australia+nz kreeg ik onderstaande vraag
binnen:
Wie weet er een antwoord op?

Hello Petra,
Thank you for this info.
Perhaps you could suggest a solution for an ancestor of mine.
Clara POTTERICK
b circa 1802 Batavia
Became the defacto wife of sea captain Samuel ASHMORE
and came with him to Sydney Australia via Mauritius
She must have been part native from photos of her daughter - the family
story says Indian princess
Though I don't know anything of her other than from her death certificate
and the will of her "husband" which says where his children were born.
Despite her colour the children married well so perhaps the princess theory
is not far from the facts.
My question to you is the name POTTERICK may be a corrupted Dutch surname.
Can you suggest anything which would be her real surname?
Best Wishes
Glynis Turner
NSW, Australia
