Hello Vic

I agree with your point, but as Menno said it's NOT a specific Dutch
"problem" These so-called genealogical search sites suck you in their
webs; they return some very global AltaVista-like search results
fringed with ugly banners. Then you have to click your way out of this
maze of java and sometimes-even flash. A struggle to survive. Every
click is a count for the site statistics and a hit for benefit of
webmasters wallet. Fighting back from badly used java is like loosing
your "last live" in an arcade game

GenLias is a different story. This amazing non-commercial project
deserves all our support. The money invested is not wasted (Although I
have my opinion about the implementation, but that's another
discussion). It is not very stable, but so what! Let us be patient.
There is no country in the world with a project like GenLias. It is
for free! (With thanks to all the taxpayers in Holland!)

The only pretension I have with the Surname Navigator page..

>> http://www.kuijsten.net/navigator << shameless promo

... Is to show a way for very fast name hunting. It saves you a lot of
time. I don't have to explain how simple the construction is. Just a
couple of deeplinks. Right to the point. Personally I do like the LDS
(Mormons) system. There is an enormous amount of online information
and it is possible to create a customized searchstring for your own
demand in html.

I do not agree with Patrick NN ? (l&p)? Earlier remarks. His vision
is too simple, shortsighted, narrow-minded and even insulting. He
seems to be confusing the family sites with
search-for-surname-engines.

Coming back to my credo.

Better to stay poor and have 40 satisfied visitors a day, then 3500
frustrated, angry and lost cyber-genealogists and a couple of bucks in
my wallet.

Regards, Rob Kuijsten
