Responding to your question about St. Louis, MO Breweries of 14 Sep 1996, I
was born and raised in St. Louis and all my ancestors lived there so I have
done a great deal of research in St. Louis. It is always tough to go
directly to the answer of a specific question but let me call your
attention to a good resource:
St. Louis Genealogical Society, 9011 Manchestoer Road, Suite 3
St. Louis, MO 63144
They have published "A Guide to Genealogical Research in St. Louis" which
states, among many other things, that "the St.Louis Public Library (1301
Olive St., St. Louis, MO, 63101; phone (314)241-2288 - History and
Genealogy Department) is the most complete single source of published
genealogical material in the metropolitan area" but they also list many
other resources including the Missouri Historical Society, Library and
Collections Center 225 South Skinker Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105.
There are professional genealogists available in St. Louis who will perform
research for you if you cannot go there yourself. One who I have had good
success with is Robert Parkin who charges $5.00/hour but is quite
efficient.
If you can go to St. Louis, the Genealogical Society also has a
good library.
