I'd bet dollars to donuts (or Marks to Marzipan) that there were Germans
in Boston in 1749. After all, there were lots of Germans in early New
Amsterdam (although many of their descendants think they are Dutch) and
they were in Jamestown in 1608.
Doubt tho, that it was a "particular emigration", just some adventurous
persons, looking for a better life.
