Yes, Foose sounds like "Fuss" (with "SZ") or "Fuss". I think the most
common spelling in German is "Fuss" (with "SZ").

The "SZ" is character 225 of the IBM character set. To type it without
a German keyboard/keyboard driver hold down the ALT key while pressing
the keys 2, 2 and 5 on the numeric keypad (Num-Lock on). When you
release the ALT key a "SZ" appears.
This is also a way to type the umlauts:
umlaut character
a 132
A 142
o 148
O 153
u 129
U 154
A DOS/Windows/OS/2 system configured for the US/Canada should be able
to type, show and print these letters for local purposes. To use these
letters in emails and news is a bit problematic since the receiver has
to use the same browser settings like the sender.
