No info on this *particular* name, but the name in general caught my
eye, as you can imagine. My VOGTs came in through NYC in 1876 from
Paris (having come originally from the French Frontier area of Mayence
(Mainz) and Kaiserslautern. They considered themselves French rather
than German, and when the Germans conquered the Mainz.K-town area,
they hightailed it to Paris.

I have general info on the VOGT name too (origins, not related to any
one family), if you're interested.
