Subject: German family crest

I am trying to find my family crest, if there is one, I really don't
know anything about my genealogy, or the what may be involve. What I
have learned over the past several days is that it seems to be a huge
undertaking, one I am not sure I'm ready for.

I'm fasinated with my ancestory, and I truely believe the internet
should be able to provide me all the tools and communication that any
body can have.

I hopeing this collective of people & experience can either provide a
clue to that crest or a place to find it, or tell me its just not that
easy.

I guess I'm just suprised that our surnames don't have the frequency and
collective of other nationalities. Why is that ????
