A name CRONENBERGER does not exist in Germany (though CRONENBERG
plentiful). It is likely this name is now spelled with "K", since for
KRONENBERGER I could find 546 entries (check yourself at
http://www.teleauskunft.de).

A location where you can throw a stone across river Rhine, and according
to the wind it lands in Switzerland or in France, is Weil on river Rhine.
There are currently 2 entries KRONENBERGER. But any place in the southern
Black Forest could also have covered your description. This area is all in
Baden. Though, the 2 in Weil are the only entries in this south western
corner of Germany (I checked the ZIP code areas 794*, 795*, 796*).
The largest German city in this area is Loerrach, which you may check at
http://www.loerrach.de.
