Paul Hatfield <> wants to know:

<For example, would a taylor living in a rural <village or small town in East
Brandenburg be <a Guild member ?

Probably not. Guilds were city creations. Cities back then were not very big,
but they were important. Guilds tightly controlled their trades in the cities
and ran the apprenticeship system. A real tailor may not have found much work
in a rural community, because the peasants had no money and the nobility traded
in the cities.
But that is only my opinion. Any others? -- Heinz
