Sorry about that. This is the area near Mainz, and the books are
in Latin. These are Catholic books.

That's what I read without applying the old script to it, and just
about all of the entries are in normal (non-old) script, but the
consistancy of the second letter in the in the first four entries
appear consistant to the H in old script. As to the last two entries,
which both look like double s'es... those were faded as well as the
entries were not with a steady hand as were the earlier ones.

Getting copies is mostly out of the question. Not that I can't get
the copies, but I am just doing this as an unsolicited offering of
assistance to someone else on the net... not that I'm being stingy
or anything, but copies of those entries would put me out $1.50.

Ose/Osse is not the answer I was hoping for. That is the way the
name appears in the IGI for this film (#0949479) too, but I was
wondering if they too just assumed normal writing.

The name I was hoping it might translate out as is Ark/Arke, and if
it was old script representing Ohx, I could sort of imagine it. The
person is sure their Ark line was from this village, but there is no
other name remotely similar in the church books, and there was no EV
church in this village (from what I've read.)

Thanks.
