I am trying to find the name of my Great Great Grandfather's first wife (see
3rd Generation A). My Grandfather decended from his first wife, and my
Grandmother decended from his second wife, making them 1/2 first cousins.
My Grandmother's sister has not left us any clues regarding the first wife
or their children since this marriage caused quite a stir among the family
members. We have only a couple of middle names, so this makes the search
more difficult.
This is what we know that may help trace the first wife's name:
1st Known Generation:
Father: Joel Walz, born in Ebershardt on September 24, 1788, died ?
Mother: Dorothea Saal, born in Ebershardt on January 22, 1793, died March
23, 1866
Children: Johannes (Johanne is another spelling that has been found),
Dorothea, and Maria Margarethe
2nd Known Generation:
Johanne is the only one for whom we have information. Born November 11,
1817 in ?, died November 19, 1870 in Nagold.
First wife & children's names unknown, except for one boy Jacob. He may
have had two sisters.
Johanne married 2nd wife, Katharina Magdalena Hrter, born January 1, 1827
in Ebhausen, died June 22, 1889 in Nagold.
Children: Joel, born 1858; (Great Grandfather) Johann, born 1864;
Magdalena, Dorothea, and Elizabeth (no birth dates for the girls)
3rd Known Generation (A):
Very little information is known about this branch of the family. We do not
know Johanne's first wife's name. The second wife is listed above in
Generation 2.
We only know that Jacob Walz, son of the first marriage was the father of my
Grandfather, Johanne Walz who emmigrated with is 1/2 cousin Emily listed
below.
3rd Known Generation (B):
Johann Walz, listed in 2nd Generation, married Anna Frederica Ploucher. No
dates, possibly married in Nagold. Anna's father was Lucas Ploucher from
Holzhausen. One child was named Emily, my Grandmother. She emmigrated from
Germany in 1913, sailing from Antwerp to NY city on a ship named the
Finland.
We are trying to fill in the missing family members, birth/death dates,
middle names, and names of children. Any small bit of information would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you for any assistance you may be able to
provide.
