Subject: Family research: Fredrick Schlack from Germany born 1855
Date: Mon, 2 Sep 2002 11:05:22 -0600

I am trying to research my father's side of our family's history. I am a
novice at this, but decided this was a good starting place. Hope someone has
some information.

My great grandfather was born in Germany, but I have NO info on his town of
origin; born March 17, 1855. Original Name spelling is Fredrick Schlack or
some variation of this, such as Schlaack or Schlaack....we don't have any
records at all from Germany, and for unknown reasons, he did not tell anyone
what town he was from, nor leave any records from the old country.

And, my relatives tell me that he changed his name spelling after her
entered the US and settled in Pennsylvania in the late 1800's/ early 1900's.
He had been an officer in Kaiser's army at one time, as the story goes.

He married Emma (or Anna) A. Kohn who was born December 26, 1856, but have
no details on her town of origin either. She died Oct 10, 1892.

I realize this is not much information to work with, but thought I would see
if anyone has ANY info to offer.

Thanks in advance,
Don at
