Hi Henning,

Thank you for the information.

Unfortunately the link to the directory doesn't appear to work for me.
I am sure if there had been any Grothenwells listed you'd ahve
mentioned it.

It would be good to know if the name ever really existed, before dying
out; or if indeed it was an anglisised version, of say Grote(n)wohl.
On his 1850 burial record he is named Grottenwell, but that is the
only recording of a different spelling.
