The Genealogical Society of Greater Miami will be holding their next monthly
meeting on Sunday, January 13, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. Curious guests are more
than welcome and encouraged to attend!

For this meeting, we will be meeting at the Miami Public Library - Main
Branch in downtown Miami where we have a very extensive genealogy department
and the benefit of "Rene", a very knowledgeable genealogist who has worked in
that department for almost 20 years!

Rene will give our members and guests a personal guided tour through the
genealogy department; she will by giving us an overview of the main resources
of the library such as census records, state records, books for each state,
war/military books, international books, etc. Then she will lead us through
each of these areas and explain with more detail about the books available.
She will also tell us about what CD's they have from the Mormon Library that
can be used on the computer by everyone. We will then go to the area where
the census records are on microfilm. We are VERY fortunate to have all of the
federal census microfilms available at our library. Rene will then give
detailed instructions as to how to find the microfilm you need.

The Miami Public Library - Main Branch is located at 101 West Flagler Street,
Miami. The phone number is 305-375-2665, if you need to call for directions.
I understand there is a parking garage west of the library; have your
parking ticket stamped at the library and you will only be charged a flat
rate for parking of about $2.25, instead of the standard hourly rate for that
public parking.

This is a wonderful opportunity for all levels of genealogists, so we hope to
see many people there! Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.
