- Second Annual "Harvest Time For Genealogists" Workshop - Now taking
Reservations!

Tazewell County Genealogical & Historical Society (Pekin, Illinois) has
finalized our planning for the this year's all-day genealogy conference to
be held in the Knights of Columbus Hall in Pekin on Saturday, October 9 from
8 am - 4 pm.

Craig L. Pfannkuche, a nationally recognized author, lecturer, and
instructor, will be this year's featured speaker, presenting topics on
analyzing 19th century photos, using maps in your family history research,
finding family artifacts in unexpected places (Grandma's privy?), and
railroad record research.

Craig is a former President of the Chicago Genealogical Society and is
genealogical archivist for the Chicago & Northwestern Railway Historical
Society. If any of you had relatives who worked on the railroad, especially
in South Pekin, you should plan to attend this conference! He has many
other qualifications which are listed on our website.

The conference fee is $26, which will cover the lectures, lecture handouts,
coffee, doughnuts, and a buffet luncheon.

As a part of this seminar, national and local vendors of new and
out-of-print genealogical and historical reference books, maps, supplies,
and computer software will be offering their merchandise for sale. Both
vendors from last year will be returning.

Our library will be open after the conference in case you'd like to get some
research done - at the very least, you can tour the new addition to the
library.

More details about the topics and registration information is available on
the website at

http://www.tcghs.org/conf2004.htm

We expect a great turnout so register now to reserve your spot! Once filled
up, we'll keep a waiting list in case of cancellations.

Thanks,
Mike Dickson
Conference Chair
