The Internet Beyond JewishGen and Steve Morse's Website
Sunday, May 21, 2006 at 2 PM
at the Center for Jewish History
15 West 16th Street, New York City
JewishGen and Steve Morse’s website provide the Jewish genealogist with
fantastic tools to help with his/her research. But there is so much more.
This presentation will discuss other “best bet” websites that allow one to
find many materials online, including historical documents, newspapers and
articles, living people, maps and photos, foreign language translators and
aids, and more. Guest speaker Ron Arons will provide numerous examples of
how the Internet has worked for him.
Mr. Arons has traced his roots to England, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Belarus
and Lithuania. He has given presentations at four of the last five
international conferences on Jewish genealogy as well as to local Jewish
genealogical societies across the country. He has published articles in
Avotaynu and is currently writing a book, The Jews of Sing-Sing. To
facilitate his work in this area, he won a 2005 research grant from the New
York State Archives. Mr. Arons earned degrees from Princeton and the
University of Chicago.
Admission to this event is $5.
