Westchester County Genealogical Society (NY) Upcoming Meeting
This coming Saturday Oct 14, 2006 at 10am, Westchester County Genealogical
Society is please to present “An Intro to the Colin T. Naylor Jr. Local History
Archives” a talk by the Bob Boyle. This meeting will be held at the Field
Library which is located 4 Nelson Ave in Peekskill. There will be refreshments
and genealogical networking starting at 9:30am. After the library, the
researchers are invited to visit the Peekskill Museum which is two blocks south of the
library.
Bob Boyle is a Reference Librarian and Local History Specialist for the Field
Library. He has worked as a Local History Specialist at the Field Library
since 1999. Among the materials at this wonderful library are many rare books,
documents and local maps from the 1700’s to present, Peekskill newspapers from
the 1800’s to the current day, over 700 original photographs, an obituary
index, and genealogical papers. The Peekskill Museum is housed in the beautiful
Victorian home called Herrick House at 124 Union Ave
The meeting will be held at:
When: Saturday, Oct 14, 2006 @ 10 a.m.
Where: Peekskill-Field Library, 4 Nelson Avenue, Peekskill, NY.
There is a municipal parking lot across the street from the library, and
parking is also available alongside the library on Main Street. Since it is
Saturday, you do not have to feed the parking meters. The entrance to the meeting
room is on the first floor of the Neighborhood Center, next to the Children’s
Library.
DIRECTIONS TO THE FIELD LIBRARY (PEEKSKILL):
FROM THE TACONIC OR ROUTES 6, 35 & 202: Take Route 6, 35, or 202 West into
Peekskill. They all eventually merge and become Main Street (follow all signs
for 35 & 202; once inside the City, they change direction several times).
Continue West on Main Street until you reach Nelson Avenue (watch for library
directional signs). The Library’s brick complex will be on the right, across from
City Hall.
FROM ROUTE 9: Take 9 North to the Main Street Exit (Routes 6, 35 & 202 East).
At ramp, turn left onto Main Street. At the second traffic light, the Library
will be on your right.
