Annual Research Trip to Ft. Wayne Library-May 2007

When: 30 May - 3 June 2007 (good time to go as the library won’t be
as busy as at other times of the year.)

Where: The Allen County Library in Ft. Wayne, Indiana is 2nd to the
LDS Library in Salt Lake City in holdings.

Who: We are pleased to have the Expert help and guidance of nationally
known genealogist, Michael Neill, M.S., columnist for Ancestry
Daily News.

Sponsor: Co-sponsors - St. Charles County Genealogical Society & St.
Charles Community College

Your 5 day trip includes:
Pre-trip online planning guided by Micheal Neill; a place where you can meet others going on the trip, have questions answered and get suggestions before you go, so you can make the most of your time at the library.

Bus transportation from St. Charles, Missouri with pickup spots along I-70 in MO and Illinois. We stop at Terre Haute for lunch on your own. If not riding the bus, you can meet us at the hotel.

4 nights at the Fort Wayne Hilton with presentations in the morning by Michael, before going to the library. The library is within walking distance of the hotel, but a bus is there for our use each day. Cost of hotel not included in the trip fee. If you desire a roommate, we will try to find one for you.

Wednesday night is an orientation at the library by the staff. ACPL has open stacks allowing you to browse. Wednesday night we usually pick our spot in the library and reserve some books for a head start on Thursday. Thursday we are there from 9am to 9pm. Those not wanting to remain until 9pm can return to the hotel.

While at the library, you can schedule one-on-one time with Micheal for guidance, suggestions or help with brick walls. The library staff is also excellent and attentive to our needs.

Usually Friday night we plan an optional dinner at a nice restaurant. The library closes at 6 pm and the bus takes us back to the hotel to freshen up and then on to the restaurant for a little camaraderie. Dinner on your own.

Saturday night is our banquet, included in the trip fee. Attention is paid to special diets. Part of the fun of this trip are the friendships we make and the people we see from year to year.

Because this announcement gives such short notice about the trip, we have adjusted the date that the deposit is due, both for riders and those driving themselves.
The Regular Registration Deposit is due before May 1st and the Remainder of the deposit is due by May 15th. No refunds will be given after May 15th.

NOTE: The hotel is not included in the trip fee.
