In a posting two weeks ago, I asked for information on the family of
Michael Dumont, born about 1820 in Kamarouska. Apologies to those who
responded. I neglected to say that he went to Maine in the 1830's and
was married there, so someone of the same name married in Canada would
not be the right person. The only source I've used for research has
been the marriage records (Beauce), and Tanguay - both of these are in
the Augusta, Maine library. For the Dumont line, they haven't been of
any help. Are there birth and baptismal records published which might
give a clue? The date - 1820 - should be good. Kamarouska - perhaps
not so good.
