Subject: Chiasson of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia CANADA

My ancestors came to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada from an
area of France around La Rochelle on the west coast..

I can trace my family tree back to about 350 years ago as I am a
direct descendant of PIERRE CHIASSON who married. Marie Peroche
(approx 1640) in La Rochelle, FRANCE. They had a son GUYON..

The story continues but my ancestors came to Canada and settled in
the MAGAREE FORKS and CHETICAMP areas of Nova Scotia 230 years ago.

JACQUES (Sebastian) CHIASSON (born 1694) m. Marie Arsenault. They had
7 sons and 4 daughters: Pierre, PAUL, Jacque, Michel, Joseph, Jean,
Amand, Anne, Madeleine, Elyzabeth and Marie. There is a reference in
census documents that in 1752, Jacque and his family were near
TRACADIE on Ile Saint-Jean, P.E.I.

According to Father Charles Aucoin (Acadian historian) , all the
Chiassons in the Cheticamp-Margaree area are descendants of Paul or
Jean. My side of the family come from Paul.

ELLIE (or Alexandre, Le Grand Elie)(a David) CHIASSON m. Marguerite
Doucet. They had the following children: John, David, MOSE (Moise).
Mose was my grandfather.

MOSE (a Elie) Alexander CHIASSON (b.April12/1879 in Margaree Forks,
Nova Scotia, d.Jan.12/73) m. Ida Alvina Behnke. My grandfather was
born & raised in Margaree Forks (Nova Scotia) and moved to Alberta
when he was a yound man in 1907.

I have more but please let me know if your family crosses mine.
Thanks.
