I am also researching the Horry/Orry family and trying to establish a
'French Connection ' for my own branch of the family which has been
centered on Boston (the real one :-) ) in Lincolnshire England since
before 1600.
Last April I contacted Constance M Davis ()
who sent me an account of how her ancestor Elias Horry quit France and
travelled via Holland to S Carrolina where he married the daughter of
Daniel Huger. This is either the breakthrough you have been waiting
for or else I have just introduced you to one of your close relatives
:-)
I have some general information (Coats of Arms etc) on some the more
illustrious members of Orry Family in France, although their various
positions as Inquisitor General and Ministers of Finance to the
Bourbon Kings suggests that they were probably not protestants and
therfore unlikely to be one of your direct ancestors.
Please let me know if I can be of any more help.
Best of luck
