Subject: Looking for BOEGLERs in ELS-LOT
Date: Sat, 2 Mar 1996 17:51:44 GMT

I am looking for information on my BOEGLER line with origins in
the Alsace-Lorraine region of France. I am having difficulty moving
this line back in time.

The only information that I have found on my grandfather's Funeral
home records is as follows:

Father: Christian BOEGLER...B:France
Mother: Mary RAPP...B:PA

I have seen a Miles BOEGLER listed in the 1840 census index in
NY, and feel that this individual may have been the father of the
original family in America, but have not been able to trace the
family's movement across the US. My direct line showed up in Hutchinson
Co in the Dakota Territory in the 1880 census. My grandfather was born
in Boone Co, IA in 1875.

Would appreciate any assistance in finding where this surname may
have showed up in the ALS-LOT region of France, and perhaps
information on any BOEGLERs in PA, IA etc.

I know that the there are BOEGLER's who were Swiss Mennonites, and my
grandfather always stated that he was "wooden shoe" Dutch, so I know
that migrations occurred before the family eventually moved across the
Atlantic to the US

Any help appreciated, and thank you.
