Debra,
Some people have suggested online maps. For finding small towns, a road
atlas of France is a better tool. Some brands are AA (the British auto
club), Michelin and EuroAtlas. Make sure to get an atlas in book form,
because they show more detail than standard fold-up road maps.
At our local Borders Books, I was able to get an out-of-date edition for
only $5 -- which was fine, since the towns don't change from year to
year.
