Dear Denis,
We have corresponded before and because of the vast knowledge you possess I
will direct my query to you.
I have been looking for my uncle, Honore-Henri Ct. The only information I
have is a date of birth 23 September 1894, Meten (Matane) Canada. Parents
are: Franois Ct b: in the Ste-Perpetue area and Georgianna Pelletier b:
Ste-Anne-des-Monts, PQ.
I went to Qubec in 2000 and drove highway 132 up to Ste-Anne-des-Monts, PQ.
I spoke with the parish priest there and he checked their registers. No
entry found. The priest then made calls to Cap Chat, and a few other
churches in the area with no success. Honore-Henri Ct married in
Manchester, NH to Roseanne Laura Guillemette, 16 June 1919. On one of their
children death certificate his place of birth is listed as Matane, Canada.
I have the form for Le Directeur de l'etat civil for request of a birth
certificate. However, the form request " Name of municipality, county and
province. I know the province is Qubec but I do not know if Matane is the
town of Matane or the county of Matane. Can you shed some light on my
dilemma? By the way, eight of his sisters/brothers were born in
Ste-Perpetue, PQ and the other four were born in the USA. Yes, I have the
baptismal records from both Ste-Perpetue and Notre-Dame-du-Bon Conseil. I
stopped at both those churches also 2000 as well as many others.
By the way I was in Oahu, Hawaii the end of April for a funeral. Only could
stay a week but I did wonder which island you were on. You would always
sign off with Aloha!

Joan
