team of trained teachers. It also includes the most advanced techniques
shown below and we will send you back an information broachure of our school.
Here is a BRIEF DESCRIPTION of ASTURIAS.
Asturias is a very mountainous region, located in the north of Spain,
it has an Oceanic climate, very similar to the one that England or the French
"Brittany" have. It's the most humid and mountainous region in Spain. So this
means that some winter clothing should be brought because, like in the U.K,
the weather here is so variable. This region, like the ones in the north of
Spain, is so different from the rest of Spain and not so often visited by
tourists because we do not have the lovely sunny days andalucians or
castillians have, it rains a lot and the sea(CANTABRIC SEA) is very cold.
Despite of this, Asturias offers green landscapes among a vast range of huge
mountains, clean mountain ravines that flow to the cristal water rivers and
small lakes like the ones you'll find in COVADONGA, POLA DE SOMIEDO, ETC.
During the 60's many spanish workers from this region, migrated to Switzerland,
in this country they felt like home so this is the reason why these asturian
emigrants named Asturias "THE LITTLE SWITZERLAND". Nature and wildlife are the
main tourist attractions that Asturias offers to its visitors. I would like
to remind you that Asturias itself has two SKIING RESORTS . Winter sports are
very popular here due to the snow we have every winter.
If you love river fishing, we mainly fish rainbow trouts and salmons in ,
as I stated, our cristal water mountain rivers.
ASTURIAS has a population of 1.000.000 inhabitants most of whom, in a
number of 800.000, live in the central part of the region in towns like
OVIEDO(THE CAPITAL CITY AND THE ADMINISTRATIVE CENTRE OF THE
REGION),GIJON,AVILES,MIERES,LANGREO and POLA DE SIERO.
HOW TO GET TO ASTURIAS.
I don't know whether you are comming by car or not but,
just in case you decide to travel to Asturias by car. IN FRANCE, you have to
take the "A-1"(PARIS-BRUSSELS) motorway that leads you to the famous
"BOULEVARD PERIPHERIQUE"(PARIS RING-ROAD), merging there at "LA PORT DE LA
CHAPELLE" junction and finally leaving it at "LA PORT DE L'ITALIE" junction
where you have to take the "A-10"(PARIS-BORDEAUX) motorway. Once in BORDEAUX,
you by-pass it and then take the "A-63" motorway. This motorway merges you
into the "N-10" dual carriageway 43Km southwards BORDEAUX. This "N-10" dual
carriageway leads you to BAYONNE where you can take the "A-63" again to the
SPANISH BORDER.
Once in the Spanish border, you have to take the Spanish "A-8"(BILBAO-BEHOVIA)
motorway. When arriving in Santander, you by-pass it and take the "A-67" motorway to
TORRELAVEGA, there in Torrelavega, take the "N-634" main road which directly
leads you to OVIEDO, then by-pass Oviedo andtake the "A-66" motorway. MIERES
is only 16Km(10miles) southwards OVIEDO.
ASTURIAS has also very good bus, train and plane links with the most important
Spanish towns.
WHERE TO FIND US EITHER IN SPAIN AND IN THE NET.
Finally I would like to tell you our address, telephone and fax numbers,
