Generally, I recommend a book by George R. Ryskamp, called _Tracing your
Hispanic Heritage_ (Riverside, California: Hispanic Family History
Research, 1984).

Then, if the town of Salas is small (a one church town), I suggest that
you write a letter addressed to "El Parrocho" (the parish priest) of the
town, and including a couple or international return postage coupons
which can be purchased at the post-office), and a couple of bucks that
you will never see again. And then you hope that church at Salas was not
one of the many that were devistated by the Spanish Civil War.
