Jane,

The group is PIE [POINTers In E-mail]

Members of PIE have created some files with excellent information about
Italian
genealogical research and research in general. The files are available
at the
PIE Home Page as a series of FAQs, answers to Frequently Asked
Questions.

http://www.cimorelli.com/pie/piehome.htm

This should help you get started in your search.

Tony Cimorelli has also created search engines fro a number of data
bases, including ships passenger arrivals.

POINT (Pursuing Our Italian Names Together) is an organization of more
than
3,500 members interested in researching their Italian roots.

POINT publishes a quarterly journal, POINTers, that has many articles of

interest to all of us.

POINT also publishes an Annual Directory that lists all of the names and

regions being searched, with the names and addresses of those making the

searches. The current database contains more than 18,500 names.

You can join POINT for $40.00 per year ($60.00 outside the USA). The
address is

POINT International Headquarters
Box 14966
Las Vegas, NV 89114-4966

Although the POINT database is not available on-line, you can request
further information and a membership application by e-mail to
. Please include your snail-mail address in your
message.

Please be sure to visit the POINT Web site for even more information.

PIE (POINTers IN E-MAIL)

PIE is an Internet group of people searching their Italian roots.

While many of this group are also members of POINT, one does not need to

belong to POINT to join PIE.

There is no charge to join PIE.

To subscribe to the PIE mailing list, send mail to the address

and put the following in the subject line:
subscribe

You will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to confirm your
subscription. Follow
instructions.

Most of the PIE members are searching in Sicily and the south. Even if
you do not find your name or town, I am sure that you will learn much
information of value.

I have been a member since December,1994. I have shared info with
members
in the UK, Holland, Brazil, Chile, South Africa, Indonesia, New Zealand
and
Australia, as well as in Italy.
